The province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate after a fatal police involved shooting left one person dead in Kincardine.
The province's police watchdog is now investigating after members of the OPP's South Bruce Detachment attempted to arrest an individual who had reportedly been involved in multiple incidents across South Bruce and Huron County.
In a statement, the SIU said that at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, officers with the OPP Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit located the individual involved in said incidents at a residence on the Bruce Saugeen Townline in Kincardine.
During the interaction, police shot their firearm, and as a result, the individual was pronounced dead.
