Georgian Bluffs set to host charity polar plunge and hockey game

A charity polar plunge benefitting Special Olympics Ontario and a charity hockey fundraiser are on deck in Georgian Bluffs.

On March 7, the Inter Township Fire Department and Grey Bruce OPP Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Ontario will take place from 1-3 p.m. at the Shallow Lake Community Centre, alongside a charity hockey game.

The game starts at 1 p.m., between the local firefighters and Grey Bruce OPP officers. During that time, you can sign up a team or just yourself to take part in the polar plunge, and pick your own walk-up music for the event.

At 2 p.m., the polar plunge will get going, and participants can warm up in a sauna afterwards provided by Northern Leisure Port Elgin.

There will be free hot drinks provided at the event, courtesy of the Shallow Lake Minor Hockey League canteen.

The event is admission by donation, and you can donate ahead of time if you wish. All proceeds go towards funding Special Olympians in the area and around Ontario.

You can donate before hand or register as a team on the Polar Plunge website here: Grey Bruce 2026 Polar Plunge.
