Early bird registration is open for a late spring run along the Lake Huron shoreline that drew a record number of runners last year.
The Rotary Huron Shore Run is set to return on June 6 with a 5K run and walk, 10K run, a new 15K run, and free kids fun-run. All of the races start and finish on High Street in Southampton.
"Building on a record-breaking year, the event is coming off its highest participation and fundraising totals to date, supporting local healthcare, youth sports clubs, and community initiatives," race officials said in a statement. "Since 1988, the run has brought together runners, walkers, and families from across the province for a competitive, community-driven event that makes a meaningful local impact."
Funds raised through the annual race go to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, youth sports clubs, as well as other community initiatives.
For the environmentally conscious, a new Green Bib program is being launched. It allows runners to opt out of receiving a race t-shirt, medal, or both in favour of a donation made on their behalf to an environmental project within the Town of Saugeen Shores.
The early bird registration for the race is open until February 16 with additional race details, registration, and volunteer information available at www.huronshorerun.com.
