Teens in Grey and Bruce counties have just over a week left to get their applications in for a paid summer program being offered by the local OPP detachment.
Grey Bruce OPP are once again accepting youth aged 15 to 18 into the Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI). The program offers those accepted hands-on experience, leadership building skills, and an opportunity to get involved in community-focused policing activities throughout the months of July and August.
"Highlights include supporting community events, assisting with crime prevention initiatives, helping with detachment tours, engaging with youth, and more," OPP said in a social media post.
To be eligible for the program, a teen has to be currently enrolled in secondary school, live in the Grey-Bruce area, and be eligible to work in Canada.
To apply, teens have to submit a resume with a short essay up to 1,000 words explaining how they would benefit from the program and what strengths they would bring. Hard copies can be dropped off at either the OPP detachment in Wiarton or Chatsworth. Digital copies can be emailed to Constable Kody Lyons at kody.lyons@opp.ca.
The deadline to apply is February 13.
