Drug trafficking charge laid after Mount Forest traffic stop

A routine traffic stop in Mount Forest ended with a man charged with a drug trafficking offence.

Wellington County OPP officers were conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Egremont Street North when they spotted a vehicle being driven in a concerning manner around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday.

The vehicle was pulled over and suspected methamphetamine, cash, and indicia related to drug trafficking were seized, police said.

A 71-year-old Palmerston man was arrested and charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, driving while under suspension, and driving without insurance. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph court in relation to the charges on April 21.
