South Bruce Peninsula receives funding for Wiarton Wastewater Diversion and New Pumping Station

The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has received provincial funding to complete a major water infrastructure project.

A media release from the town shares that the provincial government has awarded $5,927,508 through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program – Health and Safety Water Stream.

The funding will go towards the completion of the Wiarton Wastewater Diversion and New Pumping Station Project.

This will include construction of a new wastewater pumping station and associated sewer infrastructure to divert flow from the existing Taylor Street pumping station.

This project will enhance local wastewater capacity, which will allow for more residential growth in the area, and for new businesses, as well.

"We sincerely thank the Province for this significant investment in our community. This funding allows us to move forward with a critical infrastructure project that supports sustainable growth and enables additional housing opportunities in Wiarton," said Mayor Jay Kirkland.
