Grey Bruce Community Safety and Well-Being Plan launches new public survey

The Grey Bruce Community Safety and Well-Being Plan (CSWBP) has launched a new survey for the public to help guide the process of putting together a new five year plan.

CSWBP Coordinator Alexis Cook says the new plan will cover 2026-2031, and will help the organization work with local partners to improve safety, health, and overall quality of life in the region.

"Asking questions around life satisfaction and community belonging, trust and safety in the community, things around education, employment, mental health, housing and homelessness, poverty and income, the list goes on and on," Cook shared.

She says once they have the survey results, Georgian College will help with data analysis before they move into the next steps to formulate the new plan.

"We'll move on to having an epidemiologist review the survey as well as other local data that's available, through things like Stats Canada, our local public health, the school boards, hospital data, to really give us a full overview picture of the survey, as well as that other local data," added Cook.

The last survey Grey Bruce CSWBP did in 2021 identified a number of concerns and priorities for local partners to focus on.

"Our current priorities from the last survey, as well as ongoing trends are housing and homelessness, poverty and income, substance use and addiction, mental health and crime prevention. So we're looking forward to seeing what the results of the survey will show us moving forward," Cook said.

The survey is available until April 19. It can be completed online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BGCommunitySurvey, or physically at local Grey Bruce libraries and municipal offices. Additionally, Cook notes there will be some community outreach sessions where the survey will be made available, including at the March 7 Owen Sound Attack game.
