A longtime Arran-Elderslie employee is taking the reins of the municipality's recreation department.
Joel McAllister has been appointed to the role of manager of facilities, parks, and recreation. He officially assumed the position on January 13. His promotion comes after 14 years spent in the recreation department and the past several months as acting manager.
"Promoting from within strengthens our team and benefits our residents, and Joel’s deep knowledge of our facilities and community makes this an excellent fit," said Mayor Steve Hammell. "We’re excited to see him continue his leadership in this new role.”
McAllister stated his goal going forward is to enhance community spaces throughout the municipality.
"Whether it’s improving facilities, expanding recreational programming, upgrading sports fields, or preserving our beautiful green spaces. I look forward to working with our team and residents to create opportunities that bring people together and make our municipality an even better place to live and play,” said McAllister.
