Grey County Warden to chair Western Ontario Municipal Conference

The 2026 Western Ontario Municipal Conference will be led by a midwestern Ontario warden.

Grey County Warden Andrea Matrosovs was tapped to serve as chair of the conference at the Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus' (WOWC) annual general meeting. Central Huron Mayor Jim Ginn has also been named chair of the organization's economic development sub-committee, which includes sitting and past wardens.

The WOWC is a not-for-profit organization representing 15 upper and single tier municipalities in approximately 300 communities. It advocates on behalf of member counties and engages with other levels of government about common needs and issues of critical importance to the region.

Oxford County Warden Marcus Ryan began his one-year term as chair of the caucus last Friday. Lambton County Warden Kevin Marriott remains vice-chair, while Oxford CAO Ben Addley is serving as secretary, and Dufferin County CAO Sonya Pritchard is treasurer.

“Western Ontario is Ontario’s economic engine, and our region is facing both significant pressures and tremendous opportunity," Ryan said in a statement. "Through a strong, united voice, the WOWC will continue to advocate for strategic investments in housing, infrastructure, workforce development, and the supports needed to address mental health, addictions, and homelessness—ensuring our communities remain strong, competitive, and resilient.”

Ryan added the organization will continue to collaborate with municipal leaders, senior levels of government, industry, and community partners to advance the priorities of the region.
