Diversity and inclusion student decal design contest being held by Wellington North

Wellington North is hosting a contest for local students.

As part of ongoing diversity and inclusion efforts, the township is hosting a decal design contest. Community Development Coordinator Mike Wilson says the contest has a simple goal.

"With all the growth that we have in the township, there's obviously people from different backgrounds and different areas of life that are coming to live here in Wellington North, and we wanted to have a contest just to let them know that everyone is welcome in our facilities," Wilson explained.

Students in Wellington North from Kindergarten to Grade 12 are encouraged to make a design that shares what being a welcoming community is to them. The winning design or designs will be displayed at all Wellington North facilities.

"We're just looking for great pieces of art that can go on a decal to be displayed at the entrances to our buildings that let everyone know that all are welcome. We're hoping to get either one design or multiple designs that the judges for this contest think represents what a welcoming community Wellington North is," Wilson added. "The artwork has to be a painting, drawing or digital design. It has to be at least 8.5 by 11 inches in size, that way it will be high enough quality that we can reproduce it for a decal for those that are chosen to be winners."

To enter your art, you can send your submission to communications@wellington-north.com or to arrange a drop off or pick up of artwork, email Tasha Grafos at tgrafos@wellington-north.com.

All entries must be accompanied by a signed entry form. You can find those on the Wellington North website or by contacting town staff. If you would like your original artwork returned, you can indicate that with the submission.
