Hanover police had to force their way into a home where a person was allegedly being assaulted by a man they had met just a few hours earlier.
The person told police on Sunday they were hiding from the man inside a locked room at the home.
"Officers were able to breach a door, gain entry, and arrest the suspect in the residence without further incident," Police Chief Christopher Knoll wrote on social media. "Thankfully, the victim wasn't injured and did not require medical attention."
A 50-year-old Hanover man is charged with one count of assault. He has been released from custody with conditions and will appear at the Walkerton courthouse in the near future.
According to police, the pair had only met hours prior to the incident.
