Family Literacy Day activities planned in Owen Sound

Families with young children are being invited to the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library later this month for a special celebration marking Family Literacy Day.

The event takes place Saturday, January 24 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the library’s auditorium and is geared toward families with children from birth to six years old. This year’s theme focuses on building and construction, with a variety of hands-on activities planned to encourage learning through play.

Children and caregivers can take part in crafts and building activities, enjoy a snack, and join in on circle time, all designed to promote early literacy in a fun and engaging way. Family Literacy Day is recognized annually in January and emphasizes the role of reading together in supporting children’s language development and long-term learning.

Admission to the event is free, but tickets are required for everyone attending. Tickets can be picked up in advance at the library’s Youth Services Department.
