The Blue Water Curling Club is hoping those with an interest in learning how to curl will "hurry hard" to an open house planned for the end of the month in Owen Sound.
The event at the club's rink at 651 19th Street East will be held at 6:30 p.m. on January 31, coinciding with Curling Day in Canada.
“If you are curling curious this is the perfect time to try it out,” Amy Stewart, vice chair of the Blue Water Curling Club Board of Directors, said in a statement. “When we moved to Owen Sound we signed up for curling as we were looking to meet people and enjoy a winter activity. Curling is a social game and this club has been incredibly welcoming to me as a beginner. I recommend it to everyone.”
The evening will include a mini lesson and a short game, which will then be followed by card games. It is open to everyone over the age of 9, but minors will need to be accompanied by an adult. Those planning on taking to the ice are asked to wear clean, flat rubber soled shoes and can also choose to wear a bicycle or ski helmet.
Anyone interested in attending the open house is asked to sign up by January 24 at bluewatercurlingclub.com.
