Nearly 270 impaired driving charges were laid during West Region OPP's annual Festive RIDE Campaign this holiday season.
The campaign, which ran from November 20 until January 1, is an annual traffic blitz aimed at stopping impaired driving during the holiday season.
This year's campaign saw West Region OPP detachments conduct 3,095 Festive RIDE spot checks across 13 detachment areas. According to the OPP, this represents the highest number of Festive RIDE events conducted in West Region in five years.
In total in the region, 269 impaired driving charges were laid alongside 40 warn-range suspensions.
Across all of Ontario, OPP officers laid 1,268 impaired driving charges and 150 warn-range suspensions in 11,130 RIDE check events in OPP-patrolled areas.

Essex: 375 spot checks, 54 impaired driving charges, two warn-range suspensions
Huron: 311 spot checks, 18 impaired driving charges, eight warn-range suspensions
South Bruce: 150 spot checks, 13 impaired driving charges
Grey Bruce: 331 spot checks, 25 impaired driving charges, two warn-range suspensions
Lambton: 250 spot checks, 33 impaired driving charges, six warn-range suspensions
Perth: 175 spot checks, 7 impaired driving charges, one warn-range suspension
Middlesex: 216 spot checks, 31 impaired driving charges, four warn-range suspensions
Oxford: 214 spot checks, 23 impaired driving charges, four warn-range suspensions
Wellington: 182 spot checks, 18 impaired driving charges, seven warn-range suspensions
