Snow squalls could drop up to 20cm on Bruce Peninsula

Bruce Peninsula is in line to receive some heavy snow Tuesday afternoon.

A yellow level snow squall watch has been issued for the region with Environment Canada warning 10 to 20 centimetres could fall throughout the afternoon.

The squalls will come ahead of an Alberta clipper and will be accompanied by southwesterly winds gusting up to 60 kilometres an hour. The combination of lake effect snow and strong winds will significantly reduce visibility in spots.

"Visibility may be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Roads and walkways may be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow," warned Environment Canada. "Prepare for the possibility of quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions."

The snow squalls are expected to weaken by Tuesday night.
