Firearm incident in Paisley leads to charges

One person is facing charges after allegedly pointing a firearm at another person during an incident in Arran-Elderslie.

According to South Bruce OPP, officers responded to a call about a weapon on November 27 at 9:46 p.m. at a home in the town of Paisley.

Police say an argument took place between two parties, and allegedly one person took out a firearm. The two people involved were known to each other.

When the firearm was brandished, the victim ran off and called police. Officers arrived and made an arrest.

Investigators then searched the home the next day, and several other firearms and ammunition were seized.

A 53-year-old Arran-Elderslie man is now charged with pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused was held for a bail hearing on November 28 and was released from custody. He is set to reappear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on January 7, 2026, to answer to the charges.
