Nearly $57K of illegal drugs and stolen property seized in Bayfield bust

Huron County OPP seized almost $57,000 worth of stolen property and illegal drugs after a search warrant was executed in Bayfield.

According to police, an initial investigation led investigators to an address in the Municipality of Bluewater.

On November 25, officers stopped a stolen vehicle in Huron East and both people in the vehicle were arrested. The two suspects were allegedly in possession of a quantity of suspected cocaine, Canadian currency, offence-related property, and the vehicle they were driving.

On November 26, a search warrant was executed on MacTavesh Street in the village of Bayfield, which resulted in the seizure of additional offence-related property and Canadian currency.

The total value of the illegal drugs seized is over $5,000. The value of the offence-related property, including weigh scales, a cellular phone, Canadian currency, and a 2025 model vehicle seized by police, totalled $51,900.

Both of the accused, a 39-year-old and 44-year-old from Bluewater, are so far facing charges of possession of a schedule 1 substance.

The two accused were both released and have a court date set for January 19 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich to answer to the charges.
