Two people are facing fraud charges after an Exeter auto dealership found "discrepancies" in documents used to try and purchase a $70,000 vehicle.
Huron OPP launched an investigation into the incident after being called by the dealership on October 30. The investigation found the documents used by the potential buyers were fraudulent, police said.
When the pair returned to the dealership on November 1 to finalize the purchase, police were contacted and the two were arrested at the scene.
A 54-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man, both from Orilla, have been charged with fraud over $5,000. The man faces additional charges of using, dealing, acting on forged documents, and identity fraud.
Both of the accused have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in Goderich court on December 8.
