A 21-year-old from North Perth has been charged with assault with a weapon following an incident in Listowel.
According to Perth County OPP, on November 13 just after 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a residence in Listowel after receiving a report that an individual was wielding a weapon threatening to harm his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend.
The suspect ran off before police arrived. On November 14, police located the accused and arrested them. A search of the suspect yielded a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.
As a result, the suspect was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats. A charge of possession of a schedule 1 substance was also laid.
The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on November 14 and was subsequently remanded into custody.
