The Dolly Parton Imagination Library program in North Perth has been taken over by the Listowel Kinettes.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is an international program that mails a free high-quality book each month to children from birth until their fifth birthday.
The North Perth branch of the Imagination Library was initially launched by the Friends of the North Perth Public Library. Many local donors and contributors have helped to keep the program going, and now the Listowel Kinettes will be assuming responsibility for it.
At their final meeting in October, Friends of the North Perth Public Library voted to transfer all remaining funds raised by the group to Dollywood Canada, covering at least the next two years of the books for local children.
Currently, more than 500 local children under the age of 5 are part of the program, according to the Listowel Kinettes.
