United Housing nearly sold out of community bonds

Community bonds being sold by a not-for-profit housing initiative of United Way Perth-Huron are nearly sold out.

United Housing is a not-for-profit housing corporation launched by United Way Perth-Huron.

The housing initiative began offering initial community bonds for the Music Hall Apartments project in Listowel, and 80 per cent are gone, with the remaining 20 per cent still on offer.

United Housing's community bonds are "social impact investments that allow individuals and organizations to support local projects while earning a stable, fixed return," according to United Way.

The Music Hall Apartments will be located at 190–198 Main Street West in Listowel. They will occupy 4,500 square feet of currently unused space, providing 10 mixed-income rental units.

"We’ve had a great response to our first-ever community bonds offering," said UWPH Executive Director, Ryan Erb. "The enthusiasm shows people are really looking to invest in local solutions to the housing crisis. We encourage anyone thinking of adding bonds to their portfolio to invest now if they want to be part of this project."

"The campaign has gone well and 80 per cent of bonds are now sold," added UH Director, Kathy Vassilakos. "It’s obvious from the response that housing affordability is top-of-mind for a lot of people. UH continues its commitment to collaborating with communities to advance projects addressing the housing crisis locally."
