Police investigating hit-and-run near Mount Forest

Wellington County OPP are seeking a vehicle involved in a recent hit-and-run that left a pedestrian injured.

According to police, on November 23 at 6 a.m., Wellington County OPP officers responded alongside local paramedics to a report of collision between a vehicle and pedestrian on Highway 89 and Southgate Sideroad 57, east of Mount Forest.

Police say the pedestrian was outside of their vehicle, which was parked on the side of the road, when they were hit by the suspect vehicle, which was travelling eastbound.

The driver failed to stop following the crash. The victim was transported to local hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are actively searching for the suspect vehicle. It was described as a dark-coloured SUV, possibly with damage to the rear passenger side.

Anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has any information should contact Wellington County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
