Mayor opens up public review period for 2026 North Perth budget

North Perth Mayor Todd Kasenberg has opened up a public review period for the purposes of finalizing the eventual 2026 budget.

A statement from the municipality says that, despite newly enforced Strong Mayor powers dictating that the budget responsibility falls to the mayor, Mayor Kasenberg "remains committed to an open and transparent process."

During this open consultation period that runs until December 2, members of North Perth Council may review the budget, provide input, and propose amendments before final approval.

The initial budget framework has a property tax increase of 6.61 per cent, equal to about $161 per year for a median assessed residential household on the North Perth portion of the property tax bill.

If no members of council make any amendments or proposed changes to the budget before December 2, the 2026 Mayor’s Budget will be adopted on that date.

The full budget document is available for public review at www.northperth.ca/budget, and residents are encouraged to review the document and stay informed as council considers potential amendments.

"This year’s budget reflects our commitment to responsible financial stewardship while maintaining the high-quality services our residents rely on every day. We have focused on the financial impact on residents, supporting core services such as roads, parks, recreation, emergency services, and community programs, and continuing strategic investment in the infrastructure that sustains our future. I am confident this balanced budget supports both our current needs and our long-term vision for a strong, resilient, and vibrant North Perth," said Mayor Kasenberg.
