Provincial police fear there may be other alleged victims of a Huron County long-haul trucker accused of sexual assault, child luring, and making/possessing child pornography.
Huron OPP launched an investigation into a reported sexual assault in July. That probe led to an arrest and charges being laid against 30-year-old Nicholas Gill.
Additional victims dating back to 2022 were then identified through further investigation, police said. As a result, the same man was charged in September with three counts of sexual assault and one count each of sexual exploitation, assault, luring a person under 16 by means of telecommunication, making, printing, publishing or possessing child pornography, and communicating with a person for the purpose of obtaining sexual services.
The accused has been released from custody with a future court date.
According to police, Gill worked as a long-haul trucker and travelled outside of Ontario, particularly to Manitoba and Alberta. On Friday, police urged anyone who believes they may have been a victim or who has information about the accused's activities to call investigators at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
Support for people identified as victims is being provided by victim services, police added.
