Huron County has honoured the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) with an Accessibility Award of Merit for Barrier-Free Access.
The award is for the South Huron Trail Mobile. It provides residents with limited mobility an outdoor nature experience in a convenient way.
Charles Miner, the ABCF Chair, thanked Huron County for the award. He also thanked all the community donors and partners who have made the South Huron Trail Mobile possible for almost two decades. He also gave special thanks to volunteer drivers Norm Eckel and Jim Hayter.
Many of the residents at Exeter Villa are regular users of the South Huron Trail Mobile, and voiced their thanks for the service.
The County of Huron Award of Merit for Barrier-Free Access "recognizes outstanding contributions to creating spaces and experiences that remove barriers and foster a more inclusive community," said Huron County in the award distinction.
The release goes on the say that this award honours those who have demonstrated excellence in designing spaces, products, or services that enhance accessibility for people with disabilities. It celebrates a commitment to innovation and design that promotes inclusivity and equity.
