The holiday season is set to arrive in full force in Georgian Bluffs as the community prepares for the return of Winter Sparkle & Skate in Shallow Lake. The annual celebration will take over the Shallow Lake Community Centre on Friday, November 28, filling the evening with music, lights, activities, and local shopping from 6 to 9 p.m.
This year’s festivities will begin with the lighting of two large trees at 6:30 p.m., creating the backdrop for seasonal songs performed by students from the Keppel-Sarawak Choir. The Shallow Lake Jr. Hockey team will keep the concession stand running throughout the event to support the local skating club, offering warm drinks and quick food options for visitors.
Families can take advantage of a free skate on the arena ice starting at 7 p.m., while younger attendees can look forward to a visit from Santa Claus. The jolly guest will be available for photos on a real sleigh between 6:45 and 7:30 p.m., giving children and families a chance to capture a holiday keepsake.
A vendor fair will run for the entire evening, featuring a lineup of local artisans and businesses, from handmade goods to treats and specialty products. The Township will also offer a holiday edition of its Bluffs Baskets, each one curated with items from nine local vendors and priced at $75. Organizers say the baskets are meant to highlight the creative talent and distinct flavours found across Georgian Bluffs.
The event will also include games, crafts, and a Touch-a-Truck experience, allowing children to explore some of the Township’s vehicles up close. Guests are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to support the Inter Township Fire Department’s annual toy drive, helping ensure families in need can enjoy a brighter holiday season.
Georgian Bluffs will continue its festive programming into early December, with a tree lighting at Cobble Beach on December 6, a Christmas Artisan Market, and additional celebrations in Kemble and Shallow Lake, along with holiday experiences at Grey Roots Museum.
