Saugeen Shores endorses memorandum of understanding for Bruce C Nuclear Project

The Town of Saugeen Shores has endorsed a memorandum of understanding for Bruce Power's Bruce C Nuclear Project.

That memorandum involves "guiding cooperation between the Municipality of Kincardine, the Town of Saugeen Shores, and Bruce County to support the municipal participation in the federal Integrated Impact Assessment (IA) for the Bruce C Nuclear project," according to Saugeen Shores.

The project would see Bruce Power add 4,800 megawatts of nuclear generation capacity at the existing Bruce Power site.

The memorandum of understanding outlines how the municipalities will "coordinate research, planning, advocacy and engagement efforts throughout the IA process," said a media release from Saugeen Shores.

Also, municipalities will be responsible for assessing local impacts, as well as advocating to upper tiers of government for infrastructure upgrades and service expansion to support long-term growth in the area that the project aims to support.
