A potential strike by First Student Canada Bus drivers in Owen Sound and Kincardine has been averted.
Unifor confirms the drivers have voted in favour of a tentative agreement.
Unifor spokesperson Jenny Yuen reported drivers in Kincardine voted 80 per cent in favour, while 85 per cent of Owen Sound drivers were in favour of the deal.
The agreement avoids a potential work stoppage, as the bus drivers were in a legal strike position and had said they intended to walk off the job next week without a deal. There are more than 100 school bus drivers for First Student Owen Sound, and First Student Kincardine employs more than 40 drivers. In all, they provide transportation to over 8,000 students across the Grey Bruce region daily.
