Owen Sound Library hosts LEGO Building competition for kids and families

Children and families in Owen Sound have a chance to show off their building skills at a LEGO competition hosted by the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library.

The competition begins with a Building Bee on Tuesday, November 4, as participants compete in age-based categories or work together as a family to create impressive LEGO designs.

Competitors can use the library’s LEGO collection to craft their entries from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Families who prefer to build at home can drop off their creations during the Creation Drop Off, happening the same day from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the library auditorium.

The public is invited to admire all submissions and cast votes during Public Viewing and Voting on Wednesday, November 5, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., and again on Thursday, November 6, from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. Winners for each age group, along with the People’s Choice Award, will be announced at an Awards Ceremony Thursday evening from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Judging the entries will be a panel of local experts, including the owner of The Rocking Horse, Grey County’s Director of Planning and Development, a City of Owen Sound Building Inspector, the founding architect of G.M. Diemert Architect Inc., and the designer behind the summer’s public LEGO Chi-Cheemaun display. The event has also received support from numerous community partners.

Families can pick up detailed information at the Library’s Youth Services Department or visit osngupl.ca/lego-building-competition to learn more.
