Careless driving charge laid after crash that took out power

A Northern Bruce Peninsula resident has been charged after a single-vehicle crash that temporarily took out power to an area south of Tobermory.

According to Grey Bruce OPP, a pickup truck left Highway 6 just north of Hidden Valley Road in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula and hit a utility pole around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The driver and lone occupant of the truck suffered minor injuries.

Hydro crews were called to the scene to shut off power so the necessary repairs could be made to the damaged pole.

A 74-year-old from Northern Bruce Peninsula is charged with careless driving.

"The Grey Bruce OPP reminds all motorists to drive with care and attention at all times to ensure the safety of all road users," police said.
