Chapman’s has been named “Ice Cream Maker of the Year 2025” by the International Ice Cream Consortium (IICC), marking a major milestone for the family-owned company. The award was presented at the IICC conference in Thessaloniki, Greece, where Chapman’s competed against leading independent ice cream producers from 14 countries.
The recognition reflects Chapman’s overall performance across multiple categories at the conference, including contributions, participation, and product quality. In addition to the top honour, Chapman’s has also earned accolades for Most Innovative Ice Cream for their “Sweetgrass” flavour, developed in collaboration with Indigenous chef Zach Keeshig, Best Technical Solution for their training program on continuous freezers, and high rankings in several other categories, including Best Commercial Solution, Best Vanilla Ice Cream, and Best Ice Cream.
Ashley Chapman, COO of Chapman’s, expressed pride in the achievement.
“Every company within the IICC is a true master of their trade. Knowing how strong other ice cream makers are … I am especially proud of this recognition from the international ice cream community,” Chapman said.
“This international recognition means that Indigenous food and culture are being recognised on a worldwide platform now,” Chef Zach Keeshig added.
Established in 1973 in Markdale, Ontario, Chapman’s is a Canadian family-owned and operated ice-cream maker offering over 200 products, including ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, water ice, and a wide range of single-serve novelties. The company’s products are available across all provinces and territories of Canada and include options that are lower-calorie, gluten-free, lactose-free, peanut-free, nut-free, egg-free, and no-sugar-added.
The company’s award positions Chapman’s among the elite ice-cream producers worldwide, joining previous winners such as Seville in the UAE, Sia Glass in Sweden, and TipTop in New Zealand.
