Brightshores Health System adds new advanced digital mammography technology

In honour of Breast Screening Awareness Month, Brightshores Health System is celebrating the addition of new advanced digital mammography technology.

Brightshores says the new "state-of-the-art equipment delivers sharper imaging, faster results and improved comfort, helping detect abnormalities earlier and more precisely."

This new technology in Owen Sound aligns with the province's expanded Breast Screening Program, which now welcomes self-referrals for individuals aged 40 to 74.

The previous age threshold for self-referrals was 50.

Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer among Ontario women.

The Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) clinic at Brightshores’ Owen Sound location serves Grey Bruce. No symptoms or personal history are required to book a mammogram.

To book your mammogram, call 519-376-8637 or visit www.brightshores.ca/medical-imaging/

"Early detection is our most powerful tool," said Dr. Neil Rosta, Chief of Medical Imaging. "Regular breast screening helps us identify breast cancer at its earliest, most treatable stages."

"Investing in this new digital mammography equipment reflects our dedication to providing the best possible care," said Ann Ford, President & CEO of Brightshores. "Our goal is to make screening accessible, comfortable and empowering. I’d like to thank our foundations and donors for their support and commitment to high-quality care for the people we serve in GreyBruce."
