Georgian Bluffs Council has named Ejaye McComb to fill the seat left vacant by former Councillor Ryan Thompson, who stepped down in September to become the Township’s new Chief Administrative Officer.
The appointment followed a public call for applications and a review process that included eligibility checks, optional candidate presentations, and a closed-session discussion by Council. The Township received 15 applications before the October 9 deadline. The decision was confirmed at a special meeting on October 15.
McComb, a 16-year resident of Georgian Bluffs living south of Kilsyth, brings extensive experience in the technology sector, including operations, product management, finance, and team leadership. He has held senior positions in both private and public organizations.
In addition to his professional background, McComb has been active in the local community. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce and has volunteered with the Property Standards Committee of Georgian Bluffs, Tara Minor Soccer, and Chatsworth Minor Hockey, where he served as president for four years.
Mayor Sue Carleton welcomed the appointment.
“We’re excited to welcome Mr. McComb to Council. On behalf of the Township, I’d like to thank everyone who applied and shared their interest in serving the community," she continued. "Council was impressed by the calibre of candidates who came forward, and we look forward to working together with Mr. McComb over the next year.”
Certified applicants were listed publicly and invited to provide brief presentations at the October 15 meeting. After considering all applicants, Council voted to appoint McComb. He is scheduled to be sworn in at a special Council meeting on November 5.
