Accused in Sharif Rahman killing to be extradited

Three men from Scotland will be extradited to Canada to face trial in the death of an Owen Sound restaurant owner.

In a Scottish court on Monday, it was agreed that 25-year-old Robert Evans, 47-year-old Robert Busby Evans, and 54-year-old Barry Evans will be sent to Canada to stand trial on charges related to the death of 44-year-old Sharif Rahman.

The owner of The Curry House died in hospital days after he was assaulted outside the restaurant on August 17, 2023. The attack stemmed from an argument over an unpaid bill.

Robert Evans, 24, is charged with manslaugter, while his father Robert Busby Evans and uncle Barry Evans are charged with being accessories after the fact.

According to the BBC, all three men agreed to the extradition.

All three fled Canada soon after the attack on Rahman. The investigation ultimately led to them being charged by Canadian authorities in December of 2024. They were later located in Scotland in Dalkeith and Edinburgh.

No date was given for when the trio will be extradited to Canada.
