The region’s role in shaping Canada’s clean energy future will be in the spotlight next week as the second annual Clean Energy Frontier Conference comes to Tiverton.
Hosted by the Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) and sponsored by Bruce Power, the two-day event takes place October 21 and 22 at the NII Advance Technology Campus, located in the Bruce Energy Centre across from the Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre.
This year’s theme, “Securing the Future,” invites participants to explore how energy innovation, workforce development, and regional growth intersect in what’s known as Ontario’s Clean Energy Frontier.
The conference will feature interactive workshops that bring together voices from across sectors to address challenges such as housing and mental health, examine the potential economic impact of the proposed Bruce C project, and discuss how to better engage young people in building the region’s future workforce.
Highlights on day two include a keynote address from Bruce Power President and CEO Eric Chassard, as well as sessions on the made-in-Canada uranium value chain, regional opportunities in medical isotopes, and workforce trends across the electricity sector.
Participants will also get an exclusive look at the latest public opinion research on nuclear energy in Ontario, offering new insights into public awareness, support, and the path forward for new nuclear development.
The Nuclear Innovation Institute describes itself as a member-based, not-for-profit organization with a vision of a Canadian landscape that celebrates an innovative nuclear industry as an integral part of the clean energy future. Its work focuses on skill development, sector transformation, and collaboration between industry, governments, and communities.
The Clean Energy Frontier Conference begins at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, and concludes on Wednesday, October 22, at 4 p.m.
