The Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance (LWHA) has completed "major renovations" to its Diagnostic Imaging Program.
The LWHA says the upgrades include renovations and improvements to breast screening technology and the addition of a new CT scanner at Wingham and District Hospital earlier this year.
According to the LWHA, the Listowel Memorial Hospital Breast Centre has been transformed into "a modern, patient-centred facility offering improved access, shorter wait times, and an enhanced care experience. Wait times from screening to results have been reduced from up to 11 weeks in 2023 to just 4–5 weeks in 2025, achieving 100 percent compliance with Cancer Care Ontario’s 7-week guideline for the past three quarters."
"These improvements mean that patients can move from screening to diagnosis faster than ever before," said Jaide Campbell, Manager of Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging. "We’ve focused on transparency, comfort, and timely results. Our team has also undergone extensive training to ensure we deliver compassionate, high-quality care using the latest tools and standards."
The Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) provides high-quality screening for people aged 40 to 74 at average risk for breast cancer. LWHA’s participation in the program ensures access to accredited, evidence-based screening with organized recall and follow-up systems.
"Investments in diagnostic imaging represent our continued focus on access and excellence," shared Esther Millar, President and CEO, LWHA. "Thanks to the support of the Province, the generosity of our donors, and the commitment of our local communities, we’ve been able to bring world-class technology and compassionate care together under one roof. These upgrades are a direct reflection of what can be achieved when community and government come together in support of better healthcare."
