Bruce Peninsula Hospice host Remembering Wiarton event

The Bruce Peninsula Hospice hosted a special "dementia-inclusive event" recently in Wiarton.

On October 7, the hospice invited people living with memory loss or dementia, along with their families and caregivers, to the event called Remembering Wiarton.

It featured "dementia-inclusive signage and decorations, trained volunteers assisting participants, and informal activities that encouraged social connection and community support," according to Bruce Peninsula Hospice.

The initiative was part of the Compassionate Dementia Inclusive Communities (CDIC) project, funded by Health Canada and developed from the research-based Nav-CARE program at the University of British Columbia – Okanagan.

Locally, it was led by Bruce Peninsula Hospice in partnership with the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce and Home and Community Support Services Grey-Bruce.
