Environment Canada has confirmed two more midwestern Ontario heat records fell over the weekend.
According to the national weather agency, Mount Forest and North Perth both set new temperature records for October 5 with the daytime high climbing to 28.6 C on Sunday. That smashed the previous record for that date of 28 C set in 2007.
Mount Forest and North Perth also smashed heat records on Saturday when it was 28.1 C. That broke the old Mount Forest record of 27.8 set in 1926 and the North Perth record of 27.2 set in 1951.
The unseasonably warm conditions have since come to an end. Tuesday the temperature is forecast to remain steady at 16 C, which is only one degree higher than the average daytime high for this time of year. Environment Canada is also calling for
10 to 15 millimetres of rainfall before showers come to an end Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday it will be back to sunshine with clear conditions expected through the rest of the week into the Thanksgiving long weekend.
