Health unit looking for help after dog biting incident in Huron-Kinloss

Grey Bruce Public Health is hoping to get help from the public to identify the owner of a dog involved in a biting incident in Lucknow.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 3 a person was bitten by a large black dog that may have been a Bullmastiff, while walking their own dog on Havelock Street near the Presbyterian Church in Lucknow.

The dog was not on a leash and it ran across the street before biting the victim. The person who was with the dog that bit the individual is described as female, in their mid-50s to mid-60s, with grey hair.

Grey Bruce Public Health needs to confirm the dog involved in this biting incident is not infectious with rabies.

By verifying the dog's health, the victim can avoid the post-exposure rabies treatment. If you have any information related to this incident, contact Grey Bruce Public Health at 519-376-9420 ext. 1530.
