Huron County celebrates winners of I Am Huron Awards

Huron County recently celebrated the winners of the inaugural I Am Huron Awards.

The county's Immigration Partnership honoured seven immigrants and newcomers to Canada who are making a difference in their communities with the new awards.

This new awards program asked for nominations of immigrants who "have made a meaningful impact through their work, leadership, or community involvement," according to a media release on the Huron County website.

There was a focus on contributions to the community and society, entrepreneurial and economic Impact and cultural and artistic contributions.

If you know of any newcomers to the Huron County area that deserve recognition, consider nominating them for next year's I Am Huron Awards when nominations open in March of 2026.

"These awards honour the incredible people who have chosen to make Huron County their home," said Pam Somers, chair of the Huron County Immigrant Advisory Council, who spearheaded the program. "Through their hard work, entrepreneurship, and volunteerism, they enrich our communities and inspire us all."
