Clinton Lions Club revival gathers momentum

There’s a push to bring the Clinton Lions Club back to life after the service group folded in 2021.

Lion Bruce Bettles, a Global Extension Team Leader with Lions International, says a meeting on October 2, 2025 at the Clinton Arena showed strong community interest. "We had support from neighbouring clubs like Seaforth and Londesborough, and there’s been great enthusiasm locally. Clinton is growing, and with more young people moving in, the opportunities are there," he said.

Bettles notes service clubs provide vital support for projects that might otherwise be lost. "Unfortunately Clinton just lost the Clinton Pool not too long ago, which was funded by the Lions Club. They help put money towards that pool to keep it going," he said.

He says reviving the club could help with community projects ranging from recreation facilities to parades and food bank support.

The next meeting is set for Tuesday, November 4 at 7 p.m. at the Clinton Arena. Bettles says all are welcome to attend. "More hands make light work," Bettles said. "The more members we have, the more we can do and put back into the community."

Bettles adds that similar efforts are underway in Paisley, where a meeting is planned for October 23 at 7 p.m. at the Paisley Community Centre.
