Highway 6 near Wiarton closed after fatal collision

Highway 6 is closed north of Wiarton after a fatal collision involving a water truck and a passenger vehicle on Thursday morning.

Grey-Bruce OPP say the driver of the passenger vehicle, a 90-year-old from Lions Head, was pronounced dead.

According to police, the truck was fully engulfed when they were called to the scene around 11:30 a.m.

Since then, members from the OPP Technical Collision Investigation team and West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team have been brought in to assist with the investigation.

As a result, additional road closures have been placed at Bruce Road 9 and Mar Sideroad, Highway 6 and Greig Settlement Road, as well as Red Bay Road and Huron Road.

Authorities ask that drivers use Bruce Road 9 as an alternate route through the area.

Anyone who witnesses the crash and can provide information is asked to call 1-888-310-1122.
