Bruce County residents will have the opportunity to experience local agriculture firsthand later this month.
The Bruce County IPM and Rural Expo 2026 Committee has organized a Family Farm Tour for Saturday, September 27. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors can explore various types of farms, meet animals, and learn more about the origins of their food.
"Guests can tour seven Bruce County farms, including beef and dairy farms, a lavender farm, a potato grower, a dairy goat operation and a maple syrup producer," spokesperson Tammy Flett outlined. "Farms will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for tours. Starting at 2 p.m., the fun continues at Chepstow Lions Park with the kids zone games, face painting, touch a tractor, live music, a silent auction and prizes. Then from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., you can enjoy chicken wings, hot dogs, fries and more."
Tickets are $30 per adult, which includes six complimentary chicken wings. Aadmission is free for anyone under 16. Tickets are available at Home Hardware stores in Paisley, Walkerton, and Mildmay, at Essentially Lavender in Teeswater, and through local ag dealers including Huron Tractor, Equipment Ontario, Teeswater Agri Parts, Roberts Equipment, B & L, and Mullens Farm Service.
“This is an exciting event that will allow people to meet a wide variety of animals, explore where your food comes from, and discover local agriculture with the spirit of Bruce County on full display," said IPM Chair Gord Lang. "We have a great team of organizers, and we really appreciate all that they are doing, as well as the seven local farm owners who are participating. Get your tickets early, as we fully expect it to be a sold-out event!”
The committee is encouraging everyone to mark their calendars not just for this year’s Family Farm Tour, but also for the International Plowing Match and Rural Living Expo coming to Bruce County September 22 to 26, 2026.
