CMHA Grey Bruce to host World Suicide Prevention Day Coffee Chat

Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce will be hosting a special event for World Suicide Prevention Day.

On September September 8th from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., CMHA Grey Bruce is inviting people out to a World Suicide Prevention Day Coffee Chat at Fresh Roots Café in Owen Sound.

The event is meant as a lead up to World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10. Community members can come and "learn about CMHA Grey Bruce Programs and services, have discussions about mental health and suicide prevention, and take home valuable mental health and suicide prevention resources," a CMHA media release shared.

According to the CMHA, 4,500 people die by suicide in Canada each year, which equals 12 people a day. In more remote and rural areas, including Grey Bruce, the numbers can exceed other areas because of lack of resources and isolation.

If you, or someone you know, is thinking of suicide, please reach out for help. Call or text 988 for immediate, 24/7 support, or visit 988.ca for more information.
