Bruce County launches 2025 Starter Company Plus Program for entrepreneurs

Bruce County is inviting aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs to take part in its 2025 Starter Company Plus Program, a provincially funded initiative designed to help business owners launch or expand their ventures.

Delivered through Bruce County Economic Development in partnership with the Province of Ontario, the program provides grants of up to $5,000, along with training, mentorship, and support to develop a business plan and pitch.

The program is open to individuals aged 18 and older who are either starting a new business, growing an existing one, or have been operating for five years or less.

Three mandatory virtual information sessions are being held ahead of the application process. The first session is Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 12 to 1 p.m., and the second will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 6 to 7 p.m. The final session takes place Saturday, September 13, 2025, between 2 and 3 p.m.

Interested participants must attend one of the sessions before applying. Registration is available online at www.businesstobruce.com/starter-company-plus.

Following the sessions, participants will complete mandatory training and mentorship workshops, develop a comprehensive business plan, and present a pitch to the Grant Review Committee for a chance to receive a $5,000 grant.

“Starter Company Plus not only helps individuals grow their businesses, but also strengthens our local economy by fostering innovation, collaboration and access to expert resources,” said Jeffrey Loney, Bruce County’s Director of Government Relations.

Since 2017, Bruce County has supported 72 entrepreneurs through the program, continuing to build a resilient business community.
