Bayfield Area Food Bank reaches fundraising goal for renovations at new location

The Bayfield Area Food Bank (BAFB) has reached its fundraising target for renovations at its new location.

A press release from the BAFB shares that contributions to the project came from many generous individuals, families, volunteers, and local businesses. The Bayfield Lions Club notably donated $30,000 to the cause, which helped bring the fundraising campaign to a close.

The goal was to raise roughly $100,000 to renovate the new space.

The staff at the BAFB are extending gratitude to the Bayfield Community Centre for providing a temporary space during the transition period and to the Municipality of Bluewater for providing the building that will be the new permanent home for the food bank.

Construction is expected to be completed in September, ensuring that the Bayfield Area Food Bank can continue its mission of supporting those in need with a safe, accessible, and welcoming space.

The new location comes with a 10-year lease with the food bank for the municipally-owned property at 2 Jane Street.

"Our community has come together in an extraordinary way," said Claire Trepanier, Board of Directors President for the food bank. "We are incredibly grateful for every individual and organization that supported us. This new facility will allow us to better serve our neighbours and provide essential services in a permanent home."
