26-year-old woman charged with arson

Four days after a house was deliberately set ablaze in Burgoyne, a 26-year-old woman has been charged with arson.

South Bruce OPP and firefighters from Arran-Elderslie Fire and Emergency Services were called to the home around 5:15 a.m. last Thursday. Firefighters doused the flames without issue and no injuries were reported.

Police arrested a person at the scene after determining the fire had been set on purpose.

An Arran-Elderslie woman, 26, is charged with Arson with disregard for human life and assault with a weapon, OPP announced on Monday.

The woman appeared for a bail hearing last week where she was remanded in custody.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
