Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Paul Vickers has announced water infrastructure funding for West Grey.
Vickers announced a $3.7 million dollar investment is coming to West Grey through the province’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF), a stream of the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP).
West Grey will use the funding to upgrade and expand Durham's waterworks assets.
Vickers claims that this will help build 633 homes in the area.
"We know we need more housing in our communities, but before we build housing, we must first build the infrastructure to service it," he said. "Today is an exciting day for West Grey. It represents a commitment from your provincial government that we believe in the potential of the Durham community."
"The Municipality is grateful that the provincial government has recognized the need in our quest to solve local housing issues," added West Grey Mayor Kevin Eccles. "This investment goes a long way to help us deliver on solutions for this, and to help the province in achieving its mandate to construct new homes across Ontario."
