More burn bans in effect in Midwestern Ontario

More municipalities in Midwestern Ontario are enforcing temporary open air burn bans.

The Municipality of West Grey issued a fire ban on all outdoor and open-air burning, effective Thursday, August 14, 2025, in response to the ongoing dry and hot weather conditions.

Small campfires are allowed if they are contained to a pit, tire rim, or other approved firewood-burning device, provided they are used for cooking or warmth and the fire is no larger than 61 cm or 24 inches in diameter. Barbecues and similar cooking appliances are also permitted.

Additionally, the Town of Blue Mountains has issued a similar ban.

Residents are urged to respect the bans as fires in these current hot conditions can escalate and become out of control very quickly.

If you're unsure if you're currently under a fire ban, visit your local municipal website or contact town staff.
