UPDATE: Serious collision that closed Perth Line 88 deemed a fatal crash

A serious crash that closed Perth Line 88 is now a fatal crash.

According to the OPP West Region account on "X", formerly Twitter, the crash occurred on Perth Line 88 at Wellington Concession 4. Police initially reported earlier this afternoon that the road would be closed for several hours.

In an update just before 4 p.m., Perth County OPP confirmed that the crash involved a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 36-year-old from Drayton, suffered serious, life-threatening injuries, and was sadly pronounced deceased after being taken to a local trauma centre.

The occupants of the passenger vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team are assisting Perth County OPP with the investigation.

Perth Line 88 will remain closed between Perth Road 146 and Wellington Sideroad 3 for several hours to investigate the collision. The public will be advised when the road has been reopened.
